Cake decorating class a big hit with these children


What could be more fun for a group of girls than spending the afternoon with a group of friends and learning to decorate cakes at the same time? That's exactly the scenario that played out recently at Sharon's Custom Design Cakes in Crete.


Mama Africa Troupe to perform at Crete Library


To celebrate National African American History Month, the Crete Public Library will present a special performance by Mama Africa and the Mafric Drumming and Dance Ensemble on Saturday, February 6, at 1 p.m. The program is appropriate for all ages and everyone is encouraged to attend. Mama Africa, also known as Elizabeth ''Lizzy'' Hammond-Apea, was born in Ghana and has been performing as a cultural dancer, drummer, actress, composer, singer, and choreographer since she joined the Soul Cultural troupe in 1967. She has traveled around the world and won several awards for her work.
