Grant Park Village Board Meeting Share
Grant Park Village Board meeting was held on January 4. Bills totaling $5,051.26 were approved for payment. Trustee Boicken said the Law Enforcement Committee would be meeting in the next two weeks. In old business: -Trustee Reichel, chairman of the Sewer/Garbage Committee, reported that the committee had met with Mike Johnson and President Meyer to discuss delinquent sewer/garbage bill payments. -Trustee Morse, chairman of the Ordinance/Insurance Commitee, reported that Robert Ehrbach was interested in opening a new business, a bar on West Taylor Street, in the same building where the laundromat is. Ehrbart answered the trustee's questions about plans for the business. President Meyer polled the trustees on their opinion as to whether or not they were in favor of allowing this business to obtain a Class A liquor license at this location. Trustees Reichel and Morse were in favor of it, while Trustees Malkowski, Boicken and Bird were not in favor of it. At this time, there are no Class A liquor licenses available.

New business: -Trustee Reichel presented an ordinance to amend the current ordinance on default payment of sewer and garbage bills. After discussion and suggested changes are agreed upon, the ordinance will be voted on at the next meeting. Trustee Bird, chairman of Streets/Alleys made a motion to accept Tyson Engineering's 2010 estimate of maintenance costs for repair of village streets. Motion carried unanimously. -Law Enforcement Committee chairman, trustee Boicken reported that the current policy for full-time officers' uniform allowance was $250 every six months. After discussion concerning part-time officers' allowance and use of a quartermaster system, the issue was referred to the Law Enforcement committee. -A motion was passed unanimously to approve President Meyer's appointmment of Village Clerk Audrey Lehnert as the FOIA director in accordance with the FOIA and Open Meetings Act, effective January 1. -A plan was presented to increase fees for sewer/garbage bills. Apollo Disposal increases its fee to the village by 3% each year. The village garbage fee will increase from $15 to $17. The base sewer rate (1000 or less gallons of water used) will increase from $6.89 to $10. Trustees will vote on the increase at the next meeting. The meeting went into executive session to discuss litigation and personnel. After returning to open session, the board approved a reduction in the work hours of part-time office employee, Carol Dybowski to 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, and every other Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meeting then adjourned.
