Open Houses Set at Lincoln-Way Share
Lincoln-Way High Schools will host open house events on February 5 for area junior high students who plan to graduate from high school in 2013. An open house is slated for each of District 210's three existing high schools: Frankfort Square (North campus), Frankfort (East High School) and New Lenox (Central). Students who will attend the Lincoln-Way West building, expected to open this fall at Gougar and Spencer Roads in New Lenox, are invited to attend an open house at Central campus. School officials encourage parents to attend the events with their children. They will receive an overview of their future school and an explanation of how specific required course recommendations are made. Families also will have an opportunity to tour the school, explore elective course options and ask questions about education programs, high school expectations, clubs, activities and athletics.

''Every year, we welcome a new class with enthusiasm,'' said Lincoln-Way East Principal Brenda Jensen. ''We look forward to the class of 2013 joining the Black and Blue of Lincoln-Way East and becoming Griffins.'' ''It is with a great deal of pride that we open our doors to the class of 2013,'' said Lincoln-Way North Principal Michael Gardner. ''We hope they are as excited as the kids have been this year. We wish them the best.'' ''This is a special year for Lincoln-Way Central students and Lincoln-Way West students, for this is the first freshman class that will be attending the two high schools on the west side of the district. We welcome them to Lincoln-Way and look forward to meeting our newest students and their parents,'' said Dr. Monica Schmitt, principal of Lincoln-Way Central and future principal of Lincoln-Way West. Because a large number of students and parents are expected to attend the open houses, each school has staggered its arrival times by scheduling blocks of orientation sessions in the school auditoriums. The scheduling blocks are based on the first initial of the child's last name. The schedule for each school is as follows: -Lincoln-Way Central, 1801 E. Lincoln Highway, New Lenox (Fine Arts Auditorium): A-E, at 6 p.m.; F-L, at 6:30 p.m.; and M-Z, at 7 p.m. -Lincoln-Way West, 21700 S. Gougar Road (L-W Central Fine Arts Auditorium): A-K, at 5 p.m.; L-Z, at 5:30 p.m. -Lincoln-Way East, 201 Colorado Ave. Frankfort (School Auditorium): A-G, at 5:30 p.m.; H-P, at 6 p.m.; and Q-Z, at 6:30 p.m. -Lincoln-Way North, 19900 S. Harlem Ave., Frankfort (School Auditorium): L-Z, at 6 p.m.; and A-K, 6:45 p.m. Students and their parents will have an opportunity to tour the schools after the orientation program and visit informational stations posted throughout the buildings at each department. Russell Publications publishes several community newspapers every week, serving Cook, Kankakee, and Will counties.
