The Honorees will be feted at an induction banquet on Tuesday, November 10, at the Republic Avenue Banquet Hall, 113 Republic Avenue, Joliet. Tickets are available at $25 for those wishing to join the celebration. Individual tickets and tickets for tables of eight are offered.

The Hall of Pride houses individuals from all walks of life who have made an impact in their community. This year's class joins 22 previous classes of honorees. The selection is limited to no more than five individuals per year by policy.

Joliet/Will County Project Pride is interested in receiving nominations for future classes of honorees from the community. This year's honorees represent men and women who uphold the Joliet and Will County tradition and ethic of devotion to others.

Joliet/Will County Project Pride are honored to highlight Dr. Wyllie's achievements.

Dr. Lawrence Wyllie

Superintendent of Lincoln-Way High School District 210 for 21 years, Dr. Wyllie is in charge of four Campuses with 7,300 students. With the help of the community and school board, Dr. Wyllie presided over development of the newest two schools (North, West).

Meanwhile, the established schools are rated 44th (East) and 33rd (Central) out of Illinois 654 public high schools. Lincoln-Way High School maintains one of the lowest cost-per-pupil averages in the state, and is in the top 15% in ACT scores. Connecting with kids is Dr. Wyllie's greatest achievement.

Said of him, ''He has a love for those kids that you just don't learn in school. You can go to school and can learn to be a superintendent, but you can't learn that love for kids. It's just a magical combination.''

The 23 classes of the Hall of Pride contain 113 members. Each honoree receives a plaque commemorating his/her induction. A mate of each plaque hangs at the Hall of Pride at the Joliet Library's main branch and is viewable by the public.

Russell Publications prints several community newspapers each week, serving Will, Kankakee and Cook counties.
